Real Friends

It is said that Friends help you move, real friends help you move bodies.

I believe it would be better to say Friends help you move, real friends help you move refrigerators.

They also help you paint, disconnect cable boxes, vacum rooms, clean scary floors behind the aforementioned refrigerators, and provide moral support during bleak stretches of packing.

I am so in awe of you, my chosen family, for wielding paintbrushes and appliance dollies on my behalf, for spending your evenings helping me paint and pack, and for spending your Sunday lugging everything I own twenty miles from Hollywood to Altadena.

Thank you.

---

Yes, the rumors are true: I've left the magnificent chaos of Hollywood for the quieter, greener pastures of the hills above Pasadena. I've lived in Hollywood for almost 8 years now and, though I've been very happy there, it's time to move out of the fray. I'm looking forward to being able to drive to the madness when I need it but not having to face it when I don't.

Besides, my new place has grass! And trees! And no shared walls! Who could resist that?
