Message

Life has been kicking my ass lately. I promise to return with actual content soon but, in the meantime, I have a small message to transmit:

***

Dear Universe,

Fuck off.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
amandarin

Quote of the Day

Me: I'm just going to have to handle it when I get home; I can't deal with all that panic now.
She: That's the great thing about panic... it's portable!

I have got to get that on a t-shirt.

Five Questions

Standard Operating Procedure:

1. Leave me a comment here saying "interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions in my comments section. They will be different questions than the ones below.
3. You will update your blog/site with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Here are my questions from Kathleen:

1. What is your absolute dream job and do you reasonably see yourself having it within the next five years?

Funny, I've been asking myself that a lot lately. I've come to a bit of a crossroads in my career and I'm currently trying to figure out what my "dream job" is. Since I know that it will be within my current industry, I think it's reasonable to expect that I will have achieved it in the next 5 years.

Provided I figure out what it is, of course.

2. Do you look at other people your age and feel better or worse about your accomplishments - both professional and personal?

Mostly I marvel at how different I am from other people my age. I have chosen to walk a decidedly unique path and I'm happy with it, but it does set me apart from the mainstream. Occasionally I'll look wistfully at the status quo and wonder if I'm missing something, but those moments are rare and brief.

3. Do you own a passport and, if so, how many stamps are in it and where are they from - oh, and does your passport photo suck as much as mine does?

Yes, I've had a passport since I was 5. The stamps in my passport include Canada, Mexico, the British Virgin Islands, England, Scotland, Spain, Greece, Italy, Gibraltar, Morocco, Hong Kong & Macau. Hopefully they will soon include many, many more stamps.

And my passport photo is actually *really* good (it makes up for my MISERABLE license picture) so of course that passport is expiring this year.

4. What is your number one daily annoyance and is there anything that you can do to avoid it permanently and if so, why don't you do it?

Commuting. When I work at my regular job, I have to drive 35 miles each direction. With the traffic problems in Southern California, that's a huge chunk out of my day.

I absolutely loathe having to commute 3 hours round-trip so I am in the process of securing myself work that is closer to home.

5. If you could splurge on one thing just for yourself - money is no object - what would it be and why?

I would buy a house. Paying rent is about as useful as throwing money into the furnace each month, but I can't afford to buy property (especially out here). So, given the ability to spend any amount on anything I want, the first thing I would do is invest in a house.

Demons Dancing In My Intestines

My day started out quite well, actually, in spite of having to get up at 5:30am to drop someone at the airport. I had time to make myself a decent breakfast and still get to work a little early where I hit my stride and crossed lots of things off my "To Do" list before lunch.

Ah, lunch.

I met the Producer of my new show (buy tickets!) for lunch at a restaurant I've patronized countless times. We had a fantastic meeting while enjoying a dish that I order often from that restaurant. I returned to work feeling energized both about the shiny new show and about tackling the rest of my "To Do" list.

Things went rather downhill from there.

About half an hour after I got back I started to feel a little green around the gills. Twenty minutes after that I wobbled into my boss's office and told her that I was going home right now. Apparently the lack of color in my face didn't need any further explanation and she ushered me out the door with the admonishment to drive carefully.

The twenty-five minute drive home has never seemed so torturously long.

I'll spare you the details but let's just say that this is the first time I've managed to sit upright since returning home this afternoon. The jury is still out on whether or not maintaining this upright position is a Good Idea.

Bleh.

Juxtaposition

While inventorying the features section of our media library, I've found that The Gospel of John falls squarely between A Goofy Movie and Growing Up WIth Winnie the Pooh.

This seems wrong somehow.

B.A.M.A.

Comedy Central's Roast of Jeff Foxsworthy featured a group called B.A.M.A who did a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama.

It's like... hip-hop country.

Bizarre. Utterly bizarre.

Manna From Heaven

When arriving home at 7:30am after having been out since the previous night, there is absolutely NOTHING better than finding leftover Chinese food in the refrigerator.

Yum, yum, yum.

Mobloggin'

Since I got myself a shiny new moblog courtesy of the folks over at moblog UK, I've now added a moblog section to the links column at left.

I've also tidied up the other lists and rearranged things a bit, just because I was feeling productive.
