Crossing Things Off

So with the sudden move, a flurry of activity at work, and an unusually full social calendar I've gotten exactly nothing done on my 101 in 1001 list.

Ah well, May is a new month.

Seven down, ninety-four to go.

Crossing Things Off

It's the last day of March so I'm getting this update in just under the wire. Am I the only one who thinks that this year is just racing by?

Sadly, with the sudden move I had to orchestrate, I've crossed only one thing off my list this month: Pinkberry. Still, it's something at least and I promise to come up with a slightly more interesting update for you next month.

Seven down, ninety-three to go...

Crossing Things Off

Oh, hey, hi there February, when did you get here? I was just speaking to January...

Um, January?

January, where did you go?

That's odd, he was just here a second ago...

* * * * *

In all seriousness: How is it February already? It's like someone hit the fast-forward button right before Thanksgiving and hasn't let up on it yet. I suppose it doesn't help that I'm in my busiest season at work - all metaphors about one-armed paper hangers apply.

Still, I've managed to cross a couple of small things off my 101 in 1001 list. Six down, ninety-five to go...

Crossing Things Off

Four down, ninety-seven to go...

(And in unrelated news: Who wants to go to The Roxy with me tomorrow night to see one of my favorite bands?)

Crossing Things Off

I started another 101 in 1001 list last month, and I've already crossed two things off!

Two down, ninety-nine to go...

101 in 1001: Take Two

I completed my first 101 in 1001 in August and I liked it so much, I'm doing it again!

The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Inspiration:  The 101/1001 challenge was created by triplux and I found it via Jason.

Timeline: November 1, 2007 through July 29, 2010  (This nifty date calculator helped me figure it out)

And now, on to the tasks. I've carried over a few from the last list, but most are brand new:

101 in 1001: The Wrap Up

The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Inspiration:  The 101/1001 challenge was created by triplux and I found it via Jason over at Negro, please.

I started on November 29, 2004 and I had until today (August 26, 2007) to complete all 101 tasks.

Outcome: I completed or removed 65 of my 101 tasks and of the remaining 36, more than a dozen are still in progress. I didn't finish the entire list, but I'm proud of what I did accomplish, and of how far I've come since beginning it! The 101 in 1001 has proven to be a useful tool for me, so I'm already formulating another one to begin sometime this fall. :)

Crossing Things Off

Less then six months left to complete my 101 in 1001 and progress continues, albeit slowly.

I've reconciled myself with the fact that I probably will not complete some items on this list before August, particularly the ones that involve large amounts of cash, but I'm happy with the progress I've made so far. I'm especially pleased to see that section with the most items crossed off is "Personal Improvement;" it shows that I've been making some positive changes to my life since November, 2004.

143 days to go!

Crossing Things Off

With a little less than a year left to complete my 101 in 1001 list, I'm steadily crossing things off: One more major thing (Complete the AIDS Marathon Training Program) and a few more minor ones as of today.

I'm doing very well in some sections, but if I don't get started on the "stuff" list I'm going to have to take one heck of a birthday shopping trip this year!

The things that I have removed from the list in the last six months reflect the ways in which my life has changed since November 29, 2004. Hopefully, the things I've added today will compliment the new direction in which I've been heading.

Crossing Things Off

I'm 671 days into my 101 in 1001 challenge so I have a little less than a year to complete my list by the August 26, 2007 deadline. 30 items down, 71 to go!

In the past few months I've crossed off three (big) things:

Take care of all necessary (overdue) dental work
Read the Koran cover to cover (again)
Pay off all credit card debt

And removed three things:

Beat Apollo at chess
Learn to speak German
Get engaged

I'm quite pleased to notice that I've focused the most on the "Personal Improvement" and "Adventure" sections and the least on the "Stuff" section - that tells me that my priorities are in the right order. Many of the remaining 71 items are in progress, but I need to get started the rest.

Maybe I can convince Hilary and Melanie to tackle the snowboarding item with me this winter...
